KZ Writes: Nine Helpful Tips for Launching a Successful Direct-Sales Company.

Have you recently joined a direct-sales company, and now you’re feeling unsure about how to properly promote the fantastic products/business opportunity—or your sponsor signed you up and then abandoned you?!

Don’t fret, ‘cause I can help!

Since 2005, I’ve joined (and failed at properly promoting) numerous DS companies. However, thanks to social media and years of learning what works (and what doesn’t), I’ve finally found promotional techniques that create desirable results:

1. Set up your business website link and profile, then study the company you’ve joined.

The moment you have access to your back office, you want to make sure that everything is set up properly: your store link, personal information, payment method, as well as profile photo. Also, study every detail about your company, so that you can avoid embarrassing situations where you’re unsure about the answer to a customer or possible downline’s question. Frankly, the more you know about your company—the more people will want to buy and join your team!

2. Social-media share your link with an enthusiastic announcement post that explains why you joined your company, what products you’ve tried or look forward to trying, briefly include the business opportunity, and (most importantly) include an engaging business graphic (preferably one that shows the products and prices as well as the business opportunity).

*Fact: Photos and videos make people stop and look versus scrolling past an overused copy/paste script with link.

Have you heard the saying, “Become a product of the product”? The reason why successful DS entrepreneurs share such quotes is because it’s almost impossible to sell a product you aren’t using. You either need to state that you’re excited to try it or that you absolutely love it. People will want to buy your products and join your team when they see that you’re using the products and successfully managing your business.

3. Create a public FB group.

Unfortunately, like pages aren't always the best for engagement, especially since FB basically forces people to pay for ads just to be seen. Also, FB groups create an exclusive rapport that often attracts loyal customers and go-getter teammates.

4. Ask your FB friends if you can add them to your group—because no one likes to just be added!

*It's presumptuous (and beyond rude) to add a person to your groups without asking. Do not do that! Always ask first. Always!*

The worst type of networking you can do is to add loads of strangers to your Facebook and then rudely add them to your groups and send them invitations to like your page and cold-message them some impersonal script. Thriving businesses are built on positive shopping experiences that foster customer loyalty. You cannot attract loyal customers or go-getting teammates by annoying people with abrasive, unsuccessful communication methods.

5. Call, PM, text, email all your non-social media family and friends and share your business announcement post with them.

Note: Obviously, not everyone is on social media. Nonetheless, your family and friends are more likely to buy from you and share your business compared to total strangers. Thus, you want to announce that you’ve started a business without being annoying. Therefore, a simple: “Hey! How are you? I’m doin’ great because I found these products, so I joined for the discount and opportunity. Also, I thought you might like to check out my store link …”

Yes, it’s seriously that simple.

FYI: Don’t let a few NOs discourage you, just keep promoting.

6. Host a casual launch party in your FB group or as an event, or if you have a large local network of family and friends—host a live party!

Your launch party share focus will be the products you’ve tried and want to try, as well as why starting your business has been a great decision. Also, ask your party goers to share your party and invite some friends.

A launch party is vital to your business, because you want to inform as many people as possible that you now have this new venture that could benefit them with excellent products or with an additional income (or career).

7. If you decide to buy a kit (since not every company requires a kit purchase), review it live or share photos with your link, and offer local family and friends to check out your kit.

Again, no one can successfully sell any product without using or talking about it. The more people you share your product with, the easier it will be to attract buyers and teammates. Furthermore, your primary promotional focus should always be on available, new, and on sale products.

8. Celebrate everything!

Every single customer purchase, new teammate, company achievement, new product, and product sale should be a combination of excited social-media update and summary of the company, which should include a promotional graphic and your link. This method of continuously celebrating my companies’ successes has helped me recruit and sell at a phenomenal rate.

9. Provide the customer service that you would want.

Returning customers and go-getting downline are acquired with exceptional customer service. Whether it’s online or in person, your customers or lack of are what make or break your business. Outstanding customer service will provide the business success you seek.

Always remember this: A successful first month of business is all about properly promoting your new venture, but also about being respectful, engaging, and entertaining. Hence, find a personalized adaption to my suggestions: be yourself but be prepared to promote your business in an effective manner.

Best of luck!
